Brown Water Advisory Big Island, Laupahoehoe Point through Leleiwe Beach Park

A Brown Water Advisory is being issued for the Big Island from Laupahoehoe Point through Leleiwe Beach Park due to very heavy storm water runoff, flooding, overflowing sewer manholes, cesspools, and a bypass of disinfected but not treated waste water from the Hilo (Puhi Bay) WWTP. Storm water runoff of this magnitude can also contain pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens and associated flood debris. The public is advised to stay out of any coastal water that is turbid (brown) for the next several days.

Sewage Spill near Pearl City Shopping Center

Reason: Sewage Spill.
Island: Oahu.
CWB received notice of a sewage spill from the Pearl City Shopping Center. Approximately 300 gallons entered a dry culvert that runs under the shopping center. The culvert runs underground toward Pearl Harbor, East Loch. The cause of the spill is still under investigation.

CWB received notice of a sewage leak from the Pearl City Shopping Center. Approximately 300 gallons entered a culvert that runs under the shopping center. The culvert is inacessible to the public and runs toward Pearl Harbor, East Loch. The cause of the leak is still under investigation.

The culvert is inacessible to the public and runs toward Pearl Harbor, East Loch. The cause of the leak is still under investigation. UPDATE: The leak has been stopped as of Friday morning. Although this area is a non-recreational water, the public is advised to stay out of the area.

Wastewater Overflow at 3255 Nuuanu Ave, OAHU

Reason: Heavy Rains.
Island: Oahu.
CWB has just been notified of a 2300 gallon wastewater overflow from a manhole located at 3255 Nuuanu Avenue. Overflow was due to very heavy rains. Approximately 700 gallons entered into Nuuanu Stream, the remaining 1600 gallons percolated into the ground. Sampling and posting of warning signs will commence at daybreak. The public is advised to stay out of Nuuanu Stream until water test indicate that bacteria levels have returned to normal.
