Brown Water Advisory Hanalei to Nawiliwili, KAUAI

From Thu Apr, 08 2010 to Thu Apr, 15 2010. Expired 5 months ago.
Reason: Heavy Rains.
Island: Kauai.

Based on Kauai staff recommendations, Brown Water Advisory is being issued by CWB for the eastern portion of Kauai from Hanalei Bay to Nawiliwili Bay. Hanalei River rose 9 feet last night closing Hanalei Bridge and caused silt laden turbid runoff to enter into Hanalei Bay. Heavy rains washed debris onto Lydgate Park shoreline and also caused turbid runoff into Nawiliwili Bay. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, chemicals, and associated flood debris through the weekend. If coastal waters are turbid and brown, stay out.
