Wastewater Discharge into Kalihi Stream, OAHU

CWB has been notified of backed up sewer line at 3534 Kalihi Street. Approximately 80 gallons entered into a nearby storm drain and an unknown amount entered into nearby Kalihi Stream. Although not a significant spill, the public is advised to stay out of Kalihi Stream the next few days. Warning signs will be posted.

Wastewater Discharge to Middle Loch, Pearl Harbor

Reason: Broken Sewer Line.
Island: Oahu.

CWB has been notified by City Environmental Services of a wastewater discharge to Pearl Harbor. The spill originated near 94-983 Kahuailani Street, and is due to a grease clogged pipe. The estimated 1700 gals traveled subsurface to a storm drain then a drainage ditch which emptied into Middle Loch. The discharge has been stopped, warning signs have been posted, and water samples are being taken. Pearl Harbor is not a recreational harbor, however the public is advised to stay out of the area until warning signs have been removed.

Discharge entering Palolo Stream

Issued Sun Jan, 31 2010.
Reason: Sewer Manhole Overflow.
Island: Oahu.

At 4:40pm, CWE was notified by the State Operator of a sewage discharge entering Palolo Stream. The overflowing manhole, fronting 2128 Palolo Avenue was due to a line clogged with debris comprised of construction debris and other material. The discharge was reported at 11:04am, and flow was stopped by City crews at approximately 2:09pm. An estimated 2700 gals entered the stream via a storm drain located several hundred feet away. Water samples will be taken and warning signs are being posted along Palolo Stream from 2128 Palolo Avenue to the canoe launch near McCully Street Bridge by C&C Environmental Services. The public is advised to stay out of Palolo Stream and the Ala Wai canal until signs have been removed.
