Brown Water Advisory for Kauai
Issued Fri Nov, 13 2009.Reason: Heavy Rains.
Island: Kauai.
Brown Water Advisory is being issued by CWB for the island of Kauai. Heavy rains last night and earlier today have caused silt laden turbid runoff to enter into Kauai’s coastal waters. The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, chemicals, and associated flood debris through the weekend. If coastal waters are turbid and brown, stay out.

Manhole 318486 Overflow behind 2289 Tantalus Drive, OAHU
Issued Mon Oct, 26 2009.Reason: Sewer Manhole Overflow.
Island: Oahu.
CWB was notified by the C&C of Honolulu of a sewer manhole overflow behind 2289 Tantalus Drive, Papakolea, Oahu (Hawaiian Homes Land). An estimated 3500 gallons entered into Kanaha Stream. Earlier, CWB and C&C received sewage odor complaints in the area and C&C crew located the ongoing overflow. Although it was not their responsibility, C&C crews cleared obstruction in line. Hawaiian Homes is responsible for their sewage system within Hawaiian Homes Lands. CWB will be following up with Hawaiian Homes. Public is advised to stay out of Kanaha Stream, warning signs will be posted.

Wastewater Discharge into Nuuanu Stream, OAHU
Issued Fri Oct, 16 2009.Reason: Broken Sewer Line.
Island: Oahu.
Clean Water Branch was informed of a 20 gallon discharge into Nuuanu Stream from an 8 inch sewer main at 3320 Kaohinani Drive. The public is advised to stay out of Nuuanu for the next few days.
